Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

On Friday, January 31, Ambassador Kwon met with Honourable Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre on the occasion of his visit to Saint Lucia, and exchanged views on bilateral friendship, climate change response, and cooperation in the international arena.

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre noted that Korea is an old friend, having established diplomatic relations shortly after his country's independence, and expressed his views on a wide range of topics, including promoting bilateral diplomacy, supporting elections to international organizations, combating climate change, and education. He was particularly interested in our government's capacity-building programs, explaining the importance of education for the development of his country, and emphasizing the policy of having at least one member of each family graduate from tertiary education.

The Embassy will continue to actively cooperate with the Government of Saint Lucia in the areas of development cooperation, multilateral diplomacy, and climate change, which is a common human challenge, as well as bilateral diplomatic relations.
